[ARCHIVED] An early morning shooting has left one person dead

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an early morning shooting that has left one man dead.

Just before 12:30 a.m. police and paramedics responded to the 700 block of Lincoln Street for a man possibly suffering from a gunshot wound. When first responders arrived, they found an adult man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

His death has been classified as an active homicide investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will provide the official cause of death. 

The man’s identity will not be released until his next of kin have been properly notified.
