NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The boy struck by a car last night has died from his injuries.

A young boy was seriously injured after being struck by a car.

Around 9:40 p.m. Monday, police and paramedics responded to the 3200 block of Sewells Point Road for a motor vehicle accident involving a child riding a bicycle. When emergency crews arrived, they found 9-year-old Bryan Perdomo-Henriques, of the 3800 block of Peterson Street in Norfolk, lying in the street.

Bryan was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the boy was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk when he suddenly lost control of his bicycle, veering onto the roadway where he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane on Sewells Point Road.

The driver, an adult man, remained on scene. No other injuries were reported.

The Norfolk police fatality team is continuing to investigate the accident. Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be turned over to the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.
