[ARCHIVED] Shooting on Whitaker Lane Thursday evening leaves two injured

Norfolk, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are investigating a shooting on Whitaker Lane that injured a woman and child on Thursday evening.

Shortly before 5 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Whitaker Lane for a gunshot disturbance.  When they arrived, they located a 29-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.  Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the woman and child were standing outside on Whitaker Lane and were inadvertently struck by stray bullets.

There were no other injuries reported.
