NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting incident that left one person dead early Saturday morning.

Donald Bowman, 26-year-old, of Suffolk has been charged with second degree murder, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the fatal shooting of 20-year-old James N. Henderson, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois.

One dead and two injured

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. police were dispatched to the 700 block of Washington Avenue for multiple gunshots heard in the area. When officers arrived, they found two adult men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both men, Henderson and a 25-year-old, were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment; however, Henderson died from his injuries.  The 25-year-old man is expected to be okay.

While police were on scene, a car traveling toward the Downtown Tunnel stopped at the inspection station where a third man, Bowman, was discovered with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment, and has since been released.  Bowman is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Police have not released any other circumstances or motive surrounding this shooting incident.
