The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold an informational open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 6 at Kempsville Elementary, 570 Kempsville Rd., on the state's two construction projects underway in the I-64/I-264 corridor.
- Talk one-on-one with contractor and project team representatives. No formal presentation.
- Learn about what impacts to expect.
- View displays to better understand how the projects will improve traffic and safety at Virginia's second busiest interchange.
Construction at the interchange began in fall 2016 between I-64 west/Twin Bridges and I-264 east/Newtown Road under a contract with Tutor Perini Corp. A second contractor, The Lane Construction Corp., is beginning work now on improvements in the I-264 east corridor between Newtown and Witchduck roads. The projects are scheduled for completion in fall 2019 and fall 2021, respectively.
