[ARCHIVED] Light Rail Service Expanded for Orioles – Tides Exhibition Game

HRT to provide expanded light rail service on Monday, March 26, to customers attending the Baltimore Orioles- Norfolk Tides exhibition baseball game at Harbor Park.

Norfolk, VA -  Hampton Roads Transit will provide expanded light rail service on Monday, March 26, to customers attending the Baltimore Orioles- Norfolk Tides exhibition baseball game at Harbor Park.

Trains will run on a 10-minute schedule starting at noon – up from the 15-minute regular service at that hour - while the Elizabeth River Ferry will provide connections from North Landing and High Street in Portsmouth to the park starting at 12:35 p.m.

The game is scheduled to begin at 3:05 p.m.

Light rail patrons can park for free at the park-and-ride lots at Newtown Road, Military Highway and Ballentine/Broad Creek. There will be a city-imposed regular parking fee at the Harbor Park light rail lot starting two hours before the game.

If the game extends longer than expected, ferry service from Harbor Park will continue until approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of the game, or until the dock is cleared. In addition, a special shuttle bus will help transport patrons to the ferry dock from Portsmouth’s transfer area at County and Court streets.

A one-way transit fare is $2. A day pass costs $4.50 and offers full access to all transit modes throughout the day.  Seniors 65 and older are eligible for a discounted fare - $1 one way, and $2.25 for a Day Pass. Children 17 and under ride for free with fare-paying adult.
