[ARCHIVED] Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 38-year-old man Friday afternoon. 

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., police were called to the 3300 block of Chesapeake Boulevard for a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.  When first responders arrived, they found the motorcyclist, 37-year-old Derrick Lawson, lying in the roadway unresponsive.  Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Lawson was traveling in the 3300 block of Chesapeake Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle, left the roadway and struck a power pole. Lawson was ejected from his bike and died at the scene. 

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries reported.
