[ARCHIVED] Serial robber arrested

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk detectives have caught the man responsible for robbing four businesses in two days.

Johnnie N. Jones, 60, of the 800 block of Tifton Street, was arrested Monday afternoon following a series of robberies over the past two days.

On Sunday, Jones robbed a Walgreens and a CVS and attempted to rob another CVS.

On Monday, Jones struck again at the Walgreens located at 810 West 21st Street. Following that robbery, officers spotted his car and gave chase. Jones refused to stop and sped away at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped pursuing Jones because of Jones’ unsafe speed and driving.

A short time later, another officer spotted Jones’ vehicle in the 800 block of the East Little Creek Road. As officers were searching the area, they located Jones hiding in a nearby business and took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported during the robberies.

Jones has been charged with three counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, four counts of using a firearm during the commission of a felony and eluding police.

Jones is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
