[ARCHIVED] Man charged for robbing 4 businesses in two days

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk detectives have charged a man for robbing four businesses in two days.

Johnnie N. Jones, 60, of the 800 block of Tifton Street, was arrested Monday afternoon following a series of robberies over the past two days.

Police search for robber who hit three stores in one day

On Monday, police responded to the Walgreens located at 810 West 21st Street. Following that robbery, officers spotted the vehicle driven by the suspect. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver refused and sped away at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped pursuing the car because of the unsafe speed of the driver.

A short time later, another officer spotted the vehicle parked in the 800 block of the East Little Creek Road. As officers were searching the area, they located the man hiding in a nearby business and took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported during the robberies.

As a result of the investigation, Jones has been charged with three counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, four counts of using a firearm during the commission of a felony and eluding police.

Jones is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail. Once the booking process is complete, his booking photo will be available on the City of Norfolk Sheriff’s website
