[ARCHIVED] An evening crash sends three people to the hospital

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Police are investigating a crash near Booker T. Washington High School that has sent three people to the hospital.

Around 5:20 p.m. Police and Fire-Rescue were called to the intersection of E. Princess Anne Road and Park Avenue for an accident involving a car and a minivan. When first responders arrived, they found a Mitsubishi Eclipse had collided with a Honda Odyssey.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that both cars were traveling westbound on E. Princess Anne Road when the Honda stopped at a red light. The Eclipse crashed into the back of the Honda, sending it into the intersection where it came to rest on the median. The Eclipse traveled through the intersection and struck a power pole. The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Eclipse suffered critical injuries but are expected to survive. All three adults were transported by medics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The Norfolk Police Fatality Teams continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this serious accident.

Charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
