[ARCHIVED] MacArthur Memorial Hosts World War I Symposium

MacArthur Memorial will host The Forging of America’s World War II Leadership, a one day World War I Symposium on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

NORFOLK,Va. – To continue commemoration of the World War I centennial, the MacArthur Memorial in downtown Norfolk will host The Forging of America’s World War II Leadership, a one day World War I Symposium on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. C-SPAN will film the event and the moderator of the event will be political analyst and local favorite Tony Macrini of WNIS Hampton Roads Radio AM 790. 

World War I was the crucible that molded many of America's World War II leaders.  To explore this transformation, the symposium will highlight the World War I experiences of Harry S. Truman, George C. Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, and Dwight D. Eisenhower and address how the lessons of this war served these men in World War II. Admission is free but registration is requested.
