[ARCHIVED] Police identify man in fatal motorcycle accident

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 28-year-old man Friday afternoon. 

Around 5:48 p.m., police were called to the 2300 block of Ingleside Road for a motorcycle accident.  When police arrived, they found 28-year-old Edward R. Witherspoon III, lying in the roadway unresponsive.  Witherspoon, of the 5400 block of Madison Avenue in Newport News, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Lawson was traveling in the 2300 block of Ingleside Road when he lost control of his motorcycle. Lawson was ejected from his bike and died at the scene. 

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries reported.
