NORFOLK, VA – From Engineering to equipment operators, the City of Norfolk has a career for you.  Visit the City of Norfolk Career Fair at the Virginia Career Works’ One-Stop Workforce Center in Norfolk on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. 

The Department of Public Works has partnered with the Department of Economic Development-Norfolk Works, Department of Utilities, Department of Recreation, Parks and Open Space, the Virginia Employment Commission and Opportunity Inc. to sponsor the upcoming career fair.  Hiring Managers from each department will be on site to conduct pre-screen interviews and provide hands on help with the City’s online job application.  Job Seekers are encouraged to bring a valid I.D. and be ready to interview! 

Actively seeking: Refuse Collectors, Equipment Operators, Crew Leaders, Masons, Maintenance Workers, Lifeguards, Recreation Activity Instructors, Recreation Specialists, Tree Trimmers, Utility Maintenance Mechanics, Waterworks Operators, Engineering Technicians, Civil Engineers, Accountants, and more.  For a full list of City of Norfolk Career opportunities, visitwww.norfolk.gov/jobs.

National Public Works Week runs May 20-26, 2018 and aims to spotlight the countless impacts public works services have on society. 

For the last century, the City of Norfolk’s Department of Public Works has built, maintained, and operated the physical facilities that support and enhance the lives of Norfolk's residents, businesses, and visitors.  The department is responsible for the City's street network, traffic management systems, storm water system, and waste collection system.
