[ARCHIVED] FUSE FEST Annual Community Festival July 28th

(Norfolk) Teens With a Purpose Annual Community Fest doles out heaps of love and happiness on Saturday, July 28th, 2018

(Norfolk) Teens With a Purpose Annual Community Fest doles out heaps of love and happiness on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 when FUSE FEST (Focus on Unity, Spirit and Edutainment) takes place at the Safe Creative Community Space (SCS). FUSE Fest is a transformative event created to fuse community members in unity, to be stronger, healthy and happy. FUSE Fest was initiated in 2013 as a three part summer community experience for the surrounding community. FUSE Fest celebrates the heart of inner-city Norfolk, where health, safety and income disparities are greatest, through this intergenerational, transformative festival held in the downtown Church Street/St. Paul’s District.

FUSE Fest aims to dismantle negative attitudes, beliefs and unhealthy practices held by and about this community by celebrating the people, elevating spirits and fostering stronger bonds between every segment of community to help increase peace, harmony and health in Norfolk through what we are calling the Life Is Living experience!

Fuse Fest takes place in the Safe Creative Community Space and Urban Garden and spans out over the adjacent ½ acre lot and into every corner of the Vivian C. Mason Art and Technology Center for Teens.  This year’s theme is "Living My Best Life"  with workshops and interactive engagements centered around the whole person building emotional, physical, financial, spiritual, and civic fortitude in a fun, hands on experience for all ages!

On July 28th Fuse festival organizers open the festival with a drum call at 11:45am Safe Creative Community Space, 801 Church Street (Corner of E. Olney & Church St) MAIN STAGE will be activated with a Inspirational, Reggae, Latin, R&B, Neo Soul and Hip-Hop  music, plus Spoken Word Poetry and comedy. Event also includes: Yoga, Chalk Walk, Public Art Project, Community Step and Dance Show, Community Dance Cyphers throughout the day plus local and regional performing artist and Norfolk born, National Music Producer Gabe Niles all at FUSE FEST.
