NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - A Virginia Beach man has been arrested on charges stemming from a shooting that left a Norfolk teenage dead Sunday night.
20-year-old Deiontrae D. Bates was arrested in the 100 block of Wales Drive Monday afternoon. He has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of a Norfolk teenager that occurred last Sunday night. Around 11:15 p.m. police were called to the 400 block of West 28th Street for a gunshot disturbance. When they arrived, they located the 15-year-old outside suffering from gunshot wounds. The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment; however, she died shortly after arrival.
Bates is being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
