[ARCHIVED] Teen died on Shoop Avenue after being struck by a car

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A 14-year-old was killed Monday evening after being hit by a car while riding a scooter. 

Investigators say the teenager was in or near the crosswalk at the intersection of Shoop and Peronne Avenue shortly before 8:00 p.m., when he was struck by a car. When first responders arrived, they found the teen lying in the roadway. Medics pronounced him deceased on scene. 

The driver of the car stayed at the location and was not injured. 

Once the Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team completes their investigation, their findings will be turned over the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for determination of charges.

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.
