[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian hit by vehicle on Hampton Boulevard

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoonPedestrian.jpg with serious injuries after being struck by a Honda Accord on Hampton Boulevard at West 2th Street.  

The crash occurred just after 2:45 p.m.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the man ran into the southbound Hampton Boulevard traffic lane and was struck by the Accord. The driver, who stayed at the scene, was not injured.

The pedestrian was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. His condition has improved and he is expected to survive.  

Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is investigating the crash. Currently, the southbound lanes of the 2700 block of Hampton Boulevard are closed, and motorists should expect to be rerouted. Once their investigation is complete, the roadway will be reopened.

There were no other injuries reported, and no other vehicles involved.
