NORFOLK, VA – Whether you run with the mermaids, delight in Dickens or continue your tradition at the 34th Annual Grand Illumination Parade, Norfolk is your home for the holidays.
We’re kicking off the holiday season on November 17th with J&A Racing Run with the Mermaids Norfolk Harbor 5K! That evening at 7:00 p.m. Norfolk will glow for the 34th annual Grand Illumination Parade.

A special parking discount is available for early parade parkers. $2 parking by cash or credit card before 5:00 p.m. at all city garages. Visitors who park at the Waterside Garage and Main Street Garage located on the parade route will not be able to leave the garage until the parade passes.
Norfolk police will begin to close streets on and adjacent to the Grand Illumination parade beginning at 6:00 p.m. on November 17th.
During the Norfolk Harbor 5K/Half Marathon streets on the routes will be closed and reopened when the last runner passes. Norfolk Police will provide traffic support during the races and allow access anytime it is safe to do so.
Residents and visitors should pay special attention to No Parking/No Stopping signs along the race and parade routes. Signs posted at the beginning and end of each block apply to the entire block. There will be some traffic delays during events, so plan ahead.
