[ARCHIVED] Man charged in connection with an early morning stabbing

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) A Norfolk man has been charged with malicious wounding in connection with a stabbing on Avon Road.

Around 3:00 a.m. police responded to the 6300 block of Avon Road for a report of two stabbing victims. When officers arrived, they found two adult men inside a residence suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds. One man, 54-years-old, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The other man, James William Miles, 55, was treated at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.

The investigation revealed the two men, who are known acquaintances, got into a verbal altercation which escalated. Miles, of Norfolk, produced a knife and stabbed the 54-year-old.

Miles is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
