[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police partner with Kids Wish Network to deliver hope and cheer to children of all ages

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – T’was the day of Project Toy Drop at Norfolk’s Scope, children and their families were filled with hope!

On December 15, 2018 Norfolk Police partnered with Kids Wish Network and Walmart for an epic 3 hour community outreach event where children 3 to 16 years old were gifted with toys, clothes, games, and luggage valued at $300.000.

70 local U. S. Navy sailors and a dozen Walmart associates served as volunteers to assist with gift distribution and staging. Norfolk Public Schools assisted the holiday engagement by identifying the youth.

Mayor Kenneth C. Alexander presented Kids Wish Network with a proclamation from the City of Norfolk and praised Norfolk Police Chief Larry D. Boone and his department for their authentic community engagement.

“I am so proud of the women and men of the Norfolk Police Department, said Chief Boone. They went above and beyond to bring the spirit of the season for over 1500 wide-eye reasons.”
