NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police have identified the 69-year-old pedestrian who died in a crash Monday afternoon in the Food Lion parking lot as Benson Adetimehin of the 1200 block of Norview Avenue.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Norfolk police and fire-rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the Food Lion parking lot located at 3530 Tidewater Drive. The pedestrian, Benson, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle, 74-year-old Charles R. Revele Jr. of the 3200 block of Peronne Avenue, was taken into custody at the scene and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Revele is currently being held in the Norfolk city jail without bond.
Once the traffic fatality team has completed their investigation, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review and determination of additional charges.
