[ARCHIVED] Two people injured when shots were fired inside MacArthur Center

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are investigating a shooting at MacArthur Center that sent one adult and one juvenile to the hospital.

Around 2:15 p.m., Norfolk police responded to MacArthur Center located at 300 Monticello Avenue when shots were heard inside the mall. When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old suffering from non-life threatening gunshots wounds. The 16-year-old was transported to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters while the 18-year-old was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Both are expected to be okay.

MacArthur Center was placed on lock-down for approximately two hours while police investigated the incident. The mall has since reopened for business.

This shooting is being investigated as an isolated incident.

Detectives have not released any suspect information; however, they ask for anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3Tips mobile app.
