NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Norfolk Police Department encourages community members to use the E-Commerce Exchange Zones when buying or selling items through mobile classified apps.
These Exchange Zones are designated safe areas to complete transactions and offer 24-hour video surveillance. E-Commerce Exchange Zones are located at all three patrol divisions:
- First Patrol Division – 3661 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard
- Second Patrol Division – 2500 N. Military Highway
- Third Patrol Division – 901 Asbury Avenue.
This reminder comes after police arrest a man in connection with a buy/sell app robbery that occurred earlier this month.
According to detectives, around 6:30 p.m. on February 3, 2019 Douglas Lamont Moore, Jr.,
18, robbed a woman at gunpoint in the 8500 block of Hammett Avenue after she agreed to purchase an iPhone he was selling on LetGo, a mobile classified app.
Moore has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
With the increase popularity of purchasing apps, Norfolk police encourage these transactions to be made in our E-Commerce Exchange Zones.
