NORFOLK,
Va. (NPD) – A Norfolk man has
been arrested on charges stemming from Norfolk’s first homicide of 2019.
Eugene
Johnson Jr., 43, of the 1700 block of Pope Avenue has been charged with
second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Johnson was arrested today at the Miami International Airport after a
multi-jurisdictional fugitive investigation involving Norfolk Police, United
States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
Officers
responded to the shooting in the 2600 block of Ballentine Boulevard
around 11 p.m. Saturday night and found a man, identified as Lorenzo A.
Roberts, 40, with multiple gunshot wounds. Roberts was pronounced dead at the
scene.
Detectives have
not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this shooting.
