Reminder: Rail Service Briefly Interrupted This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA - Light rail service between Newtown Road and Military Highway will be suspended on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 to perform overhead bridge work associated with continuing construction of new ramps at the I-64/264 interchange.

A bus bridge will be in place for those customers riding between these two stations. Regular rail service will operate Friday evening until the end of the service day. Regular service resumes Monday, March 25.

The light rail will operate at 30-minute intervals on Saturday, March 23 before 8:30 a.m. and after 10:30 p.m. and at 20-minute intervals during all other times. On Sunday, March 24 it will operate at 20-minute intervals.

Eastbound customers heading to Newtown Road, will exit the train at Military Highway and board a bus to Newtown Road. Westbound customers using Military Highway, Ingleside Road, or Ballentine Boulevard will board on the eastbound platform. Customers are urged to stay alert to train movement when catching the correct train.

Signs will be placed on the westbound platform directing customers. Train operators will make announcements concerning direction of travel. Trains will merge to the normal track after clearing Ballentine Station.

All work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled if necessary.
