UPDATE: Norfolk police have identified the man who died in the motor vehicle accident this morning on Granby Street as 25-year-old Dequan Leary of Virginia Beach.

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – An accident on Granby Street has left one person dead and another person injured.
Around 5:45 a.m. dispatchers received a call for a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Granby and 9th Street. When first responders arrived, they discovered a white van and four other vehicles with extensive damage.
Medics transported two people to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. One person was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other person suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation has revealed, the van was traveling southbound on Granby Street when the driver lost control of the car, striking four unoccupied parked cars. The van came to rest at the corner of Granby and 11th Street.
The Norfolk Police Fatality Team continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this deadly accident.
