[ARCHIVED] Woman dies after being hit by a truck in parking lot

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A Norfolk woman has died after being hit by a truck in a department store parking lot Friday afternoon.

Investigators say that around 2:00 p.m. 68-year-old Randi B. Ferraro was walking in the Home Depot parking lot located at 1261 N. Military Highway when she was struck by a truck that was attempting to enter a parking space. When first responders arrived, they found Ferraro lying in the parking lot. She was quickly taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment; however, she died shortly after arriving.

The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and was not injured.

Once the Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team completes their investigation, their findings will be turned over the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for determination of charges.

There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.
