[ARCHIVED] Police remind citizens of E-Commerce Exchange Zones

E-CommerceNORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Norfolk Police Department encourages community members to use the E-Commerce Exchange Zones when buying or selling items through mobile classified apps.

These Exchange Zones are designated safe areas to complete transactions and offer 24-hour video surveillance. E-Commerce Exchange Zones are located at all three patrol divisions:

  • First Patrol Division – 3661 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard
  • Second Patrol Division – 2500 N. Military Highway
  • Third Patrol Division – 901 Asbury Avenue

This reminder comes after a man attempted to purchase a car on LetGo, a mobile classified app.

According to detectives, around 8:15 p.m. on October 12, 2019, two men met in the 1100 block of Georgetown Road in Norfolk. The victim gave the suspect cash in exchange for a key to a car and was told the vehicle was at another location. When the man went to the location, there was no car.

SuspectPolice ask anyone who recognizes the man pictured, or knows anything about this incident, to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3Tips mobile app.

With the increasing popularity of purchasing apps, Norfolk police encourage these transactions to be made in our E-Commerce Exchange Zones.
