[ARCHIVED] Man dies from injuries sustained in a shooting on 19th Bay Street, Suspect Arrested

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are investigating a homicide after a 22-year-old man died at the hospital following a shooting that occurred on June 4, 2020.

Around 2:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call for a gunshot victim in the 9600 block of 19th Bay Street. When first responders arrived, they found Ethan A. Evans suffering from gunshot wounds.

Evans was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died from his injuries on June 16, 2020.

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Marquise T. Thompson of Newport News has been arrested and charged with second degree murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm.

Thompson is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
