[ARCHIVED] Man dies following Thursday evening’s crash on Tidewater Drive

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Around 6:50 p.m. police were dispatched to the 6500 block of Tidewater Drive for a vehicle accident.

When officers arrived, they located four individuals who were all suffering from injuries sustained during the crash.

One of the drivers, later identified as Zachary F. Miles, 42, of Newport News, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle and its two passengers all sustained minor injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed Mr. Miles was traveling southbound in the 6500 block of Tidewater Drive when he lost control of his Ford sedan, crossed over into oncoming traffic lanes, and hit an SUV which was traveling northbound on Tidewater Drive.

Investigators believe speed to be a contributing factor.

This is being investigated by the Norfolk Police Department’s Traffic Division.
