[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police charge vape shop with illegal gambling

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Investigators with the Department’s Anti-Crime Division are continuing their efforts to put a stop to illegal gambling in Norfolk and have charged another local business with participating in an illegal gambling operation.  image021

On March 25, 2021 around 10:50 a.m. Investigators executed a search warrant at Dragon Vapes located at 846 E. Little Creek Road after receiving reports of illegal gambling taking place at the location. 

As a result of the investigation, Detectives charged two people and seized illegal gaming stations, computers, and over $5000.00. Jimmie W. Hicks Jr.,55, of Advance, North Carolina, was charged with possessing illegal gambling devices. Monika S. Torrence,35, of Norfolk, was charged with being an accessory to gambling activity. 

The Norfolk Police Department is continuing their efforts to identify illegal gambling activities taking place inside of businesses and encourages the reporting of all suspicious activity by calling the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submitting a tip through the P3Tips mobile app.
