[ARCHIVED] Man dies following shooting on Fremont Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives are continuing to investigate a deadly shooting that left a 41-year-old man dead.

Around 3:45 a.m. on May 2, 2021 police were dispatched to the 800 block of Fremont Street for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived on scene, they located Christopher M. Mercer, of Norfolk, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Mercer was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Detectives have not released a motive or any suspect information surrounding this incident.
