NORFOLK, VA – The City of Norfolk’s offices, including libraries and recreation centers, will close on Monday, July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The closures include the Commissioner of the Revenue, City Treasurer and the Norfolk Courthouse. City offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 6.
Lifeguards are on duty daily, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., at Community Beach Park and Sarah Constant Beach Park, including July 4 and 5. Due to a staffing shortage, lifeguards are not on duty at Ocean View Beach Park for the summer. “Swim at your own risk” signs are posted. Beachgoers are encouraged to swim at guarded beaches.
Requests for bulk waste collection on Tuesday, July 6, must be made before 3 p.m. on Friday, July 2. To schedule bulk waste collection, call the Norfolk Cares Assistance Center at (757) 664-6510 or submit a service request via the MyNorfolk app or online portal.
The SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station will close on Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.
Norfolk residents can drop-off unwanted E-waste on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. – noon at the Division of Towing and Recovery located at 1188-A Lance Road.
