[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested; four injured following shooting on Madison Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police have arrested the suspect responsible for the afternoon shooting that left four injured.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on July 2, 2021, police were dispatched to the 900 block of Madison Avenue for the report of a gunshot disturbance. When Officers arrived in the area, they did not immediately find any gunshot victims. A short time later dispatch was notified of several gunshot victims who had arrived at local hospitals by car. 

Officers responded to the hospital and found the four gunshot victims from the shooting, a 6-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and 16-year-old boy. The 6-year-old girl was reported to have life-threatening injuries; however, she is now considered to be in stable condition.

The 14-year-old and both 16-year-olds all sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and are expected to recover.  

As a result of their investigation, Detectives have charged a 15-year-old boy with the following: malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied building, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and two counts of use of a firearm.

The 15-year-old is currently being held in the Norfolk Detention Center.
