[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police identify man killed on Vimy Ridge Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have identified the man who was fatally shot last weekend on Vimy Ridge Avenue.

Around 10:15 p.m. on July 11, 2021, police responded to the 2900 block of Vimy Ridge Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wound. The man, 38-year-old Garnet Williams, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This incident has been submitted to the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, as the preliminary investigation has revealed that Williams was shot by a resident after he allegedly attacked the resident.
