NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police have arrested and charged the man responsible for a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the Highland Park neighborhood.
On August 24, 2021, around 4:00 p.m. police were called to a home in the 800 block of W. 42nd Street for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The man, 67-year-old Michael D. Sturdivant, of Norfolk, was transported to the hospital for treatment where he later died because of his injuries.
As a result of their investigation, the victim’s grandson Jamiele C. Pender, 29, of Norfolk, has been charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm.
Detectives have not released a motive or any additional circumstances surrounding this shooting.
Pender is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
