[ARCHIVED] Poetry is Everywhere in Norfolk

Poetry on the Pavement Kicks Off Visual Arts Month

NORFOLK, VA – The media is invited to attend the City of Norfolk’s first ever Poetry on the Pavement unveiling!   The first poem will be unveiled by youth poet and 6th grade Norfolk Public Schools’ student Shaaron Hernandez Chamul.

  • When: Friday, October 1 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Willard Model Elementary School 1511 Willow Wood Drive
  • Who: Youth Poet Shaaron Hernandez Chamul, Virginia Poet Laureate Luisa Igloria, members of the Norfolk Arts Commission

A committee of arts experts selected 25 poems by local poets.  The poems will be stenciled on hundreds of sidewalks citywide throughout the month of October as a celebration of Visual Arts Month.
