[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest suspect, identify man killed following shooting on Strand Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) –Detectives have arrested and charged the man responsible for the shooting that left one man dead, and another man injured.

On November 14, 2021, around 12:00 p.m., Officers responded to the report of a gunshot victim in the 1300 block of Strand Street. When police arrived, they located 30-year-old Drosvin F. Escobar, of Norfolk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Escobar was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 26-year-old man was found suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to hospital for medical treatment. 

As a result of their investigation, Detectives have charged Jose J. Gutierrez-Chavez, 21, of Norfolk with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and two counts of use of a firearm.
