[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Hosts Eviction Prevention Resource Clinic

In-person program connects residents with legal and financial resources

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk’s Department of Neighborhood Services is hosting an Eviction Prevention Resource Clinic to connect residents to legal and financial resources to pay rental and utility arrearages and assist with childcare costs.

This event will be held on Saturday, December 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Attucks Theatre. Renters facing eviction will have in-person access to representatives from Legal Aid and Virginia Poverty Law Center, along with city staff, to assist with rent relief applications, utility assistance and financial resources. All Norfolk households facing eviction are eligible to receive assistance.

“This clinic will help renters avoid the pain of eviction by providing financial assistance, legal aid and housing law education so residents can recover quickly,” said Aarian Daniels, Public Services Coordinator with the Department of Neighborhood Services.

Residents should bring as much of the following documentation as possible: rental agreement/lease, utility bills, photo ID, social security card and their last two paystubs. Originals, copies and digital documents are accepted.

Breakfast, lunch, and childcare will be provided to attendees at no cost, but registration is required.

Event will follow COVID-19 protocols such as masks and hand sanitizer.
