[ARCHIVED] Suspect found dead following domestic-related shooting on Remsen Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The man responsible for the homicide on Remsen Street has also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  

On January 18, 2022, around 10:20 p.m. police were called to a home in the 7200 block of Remsen Street for the report of a gunshot victim. When the officers arrived, they located Frankie D. Bland, 24, of Norfolk, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Bland was transported to the hospital for medical treatment where he later died from his injuries. 

As a result of their investigation, Detectives charged the victim's brother, Taquan D. Harper, 27, of Portsmouth, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm; however, the suspect was found deceased around 9:00 a.m. on January 20, 2022, in Hampton, Virginia. 

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this shooting.
