[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian dies from injuries following weekend crash on Chesapeake Boulevard

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A pedestrian who was hit by a car has died from his injuries.

On February 4, 2022, around 7:30 p.m. police responded for the report of an accident involving a pedestrian in the 6100 block of Chesapeake Boulevard.

When Officers arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries. The man, later identified as Steven J. Spruill, 63, of Norfolk, was taken to the hospital for treatment. Spruill later died on February 6, 2022 from his injuries.

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a car was driving on Chesapeake Boulevard when Spruill entered the road and was hit.

The driver of the car, a 53-year-old man, stayed at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

Investigators say that speed and alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factors. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.
