[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police arrest suspect following shooting on E. Virginia Beach Boulevard

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have arrested and charged the man responsible a shooting Sunday evening that left a teenager dead.

On March 6, 2022, around 5:40 p.m., Officers responded to the 7-Eleven parking lot located at 3025 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard for the report of a gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found a 17-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Investigators have charged Jayvon D. Smith, 32, of Norfolk, with second-degree murder, and use of a firearm. 

Smith is currently in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Detectives have not released a motive, or any additional circumstances surrounding this incident. Jayvon Smith 32
