[ARCHIVED] Woman arrested for fatal crash on Hampton Blvd in 2021

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A woman has been arrested following several indictments for a fatal crash in 2021.

On September 5, 2021, around 11:30 p.m., police were called to the 6100 block of Hampton Boulevard for a single vehicle crash. When police arrived, they came in contact with the 5 occupants of the vehicle who were all suffering from injuries. A female passenger, Nitanjae V. Terry, of Norfolk, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries; however, she died shortly after arrival. The other four occupants were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 6, 2022, a Norfolk Grand Jury was convened and certified indictments against the driver of the vehicle, Alexis Whitehead, of Hampton, for Non-Capital Second Degree Murder, Involuntary Manslaughter – DUI, Maiming from Driving While Intoxicated X 2, Driving a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, and Injuring another or causing death of another while engaging in a race.

On April 7, 2022, the Norfolk Police Traffic Unit arrested Whitehead who is currently in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
