[ARCHIVED] Virginia State Police investigating Officer Involved Shooting on E. Little Creek Road

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Virginia State Police are currently investigating a shooting involving a Norfolk Police Officer.

Norfolk Police responded to the 100 block of E Little Creek Road around 1:40 p.m. on January 18, 2024, for the report of a suspicious person call. When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a man who displayed a knife. The man approached the officer at which time the officer discharged their service weapon. 

A security guard who was present also discharged their weapon. 

The man was shot and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

No officers were injured.

This is still an active investigation, and we have no other details at this time.
