Man Sentenced to 10 Months for Brandishing Gun at Sanitation Worker
NORFOLK, Va. – Louis Arthur Lemon, 25, was sentenced on Friday to 10 months in jail for misdemeanor brandishing after pointing his gun at a sanitation worker in 2022.
On Dec. 21, 2022, a sanitation worker for TFC Recycling was working her usual route along Sturgis Street and was unable to service cans left outside Mr. Lemon’s residence due to improper materials being left in them. Mr. Lemon drove up to her work truck in his vehicle, blocked her path, got out of his vehicle, and began yelling at her. Despite the victim explaining to Mr. Lemon why his cans could not be serviced, he walked back to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm, and pointed it at her. After that, Mr. Lemon got back in his vehicle and drove off. The victim called 911 to report the brandishing, took note of Mr. Lemon’s address, and secured a charge for brandishing from a Norfolk magistrate against Mr. Lemon.
Following a Dec. 12, 2023, bench trial, Judge Robert B. Rigney convicted Mr. Lemon of his charge. On Friday, Judge Rigney sentenced Mr. Lemon to 10 months in the Norfolk City Jail.
“Brandishing a gun is a misdemeanor in Virginia, but it is an incredibly serious crime,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “Mr. Lemon threatened to shoot the victim for doing her job after she tried to help him. He has earned his lengthy jail sentence. We will continue to hold accountable people who commit gun crimes in our City.”
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney James S. Strickland prosecuted Mr. Lemon’s case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
