NORFOLK, Va. – The City of Norfolk is preparing for construction of the NEON District Streetscape Project by adding new parking and striping existing parking to accommodate residents, businesses and visitors to the NEON District.
More than 40 parking spaces will be added, along with the striping of existing on-street parking spots on Virginia Beach Blvd., Monticello Ave. and E. Wilson Ave.
Existing signage will be removed and replaced with new signage. The newly marked parking spaces will be available for free two-hour parking Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no time limitation for parking at night and on Sundays.
The striping work for new and existing parking will take approximately four weeks with an estimated completion by mid-June, weather dependent, prior to the start of construction for the NEON District Streetscape Project, which includes comprehensive infrastructure improvements. Motorists traveling through the project area can expect lane closures as needed.
