[ARCHIVED] Motorcyclist dies following single-vehicle crash on Helmick Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are continuing to investigate a crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

Around 3:30 p.m. on May 12th, first responders were called to the 100 block of Helmick Street for the report of a serious crash involving a motorcycle. When Officers arrived, they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. 

The man, later identified as Xavier W. Rochon, 21, of Norfolk, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The preliminary investigation determined the driver lost control of the motorcycle and hit a curb. 

Investigators say speed or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors.
