Motorists can expect brief, intermittent stoppages on Ballentine Boulevard and adjacent I-264 west ramps prior to anticipated lane opening on Aug. 23, weather permitting
NORFOLK — Starting as early as Saturday, Aug. 23, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are scheduled to open a new left-turn lane on the off-ramp from I-264 west to Ballentine Boulevard (exit 12), as part of the I-264 West/Ballentine Boulevard Ramp Improvements Project in Norfolk. The lane’s opening will put the ramp into its final traffic configuration, featuring one dedicated left-turn lane and two dedicated right-turn lanes onto Ballentine Boulevard.
Prior to the lane opening, crews will be installing a signal pole mast arm and new traffic signals at the intersection of the I-264 west off-ramp and Ballentine Boulevard. This work will require brief, intermittent stoppages on Ballentine Boulevard and the adjacent I-264 west on- and off-ramps, as early as Saturday, Aug. 23, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, police will perform flagging operations to direct traffic.
All work is weather- and schedule-dependent; therefore, this schedule is subject to change.
