The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class prepares participants with the skills needed to keep swimmers safe. The course covers essential water rescue techniques, CPR, AED use and first aid, with hands-on, scenario-based training led by experienced instructors.
Whether you are starting a career in aquatics or building lifesaving skills, this class provides a strong foundation for success:
- Participants must be at least 15 years old by the end of the course. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the registration forms.
- Participants are responsible for obtaining their own required class materials.
- The course includes online trainings that must be completed prior to the first session.
These trainings take approximately six hours to complete.
Completion of the course pretest is required in order to register.
Pretest Requirements:
- Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence (Front Crawl, Breaststroke, or a combination). 150-yard swim, 2-minute legs-only tread, followed by a 50-yard swim.
- 20-yard, 10 lb. brick retrieval and tow in under 1 minute 40 seconds.
Pretests take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
