Towing & Recovery
In response to COVID-19 and due to the Governor’s “stay at home” order, Towing & Recovery staff are working remotely Monday – Friday, 24 hours a day. On Saturday and Sunday, staff are remotely available from 8:00 AM – midnight.
Residents can pick up their towed vehicles by calling 441-1062 to schedule an appointment. Appointments will only be available Monday or Friday, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A Towing & Recovery staff member will meet residents at the Towing & Recovery facility.
Towing & Recovery will continue to provide towing services, in coordination with the Norfolk Police Department, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Towing and Recovery Division provides professional towing services by responding to requests from the Norfolk Police Department, Fire Department and Health Department, as well as parking for parking and code enforcement personnel, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
To report a nuisance or abandoned motor vehicle, call Norfolk CARES at 757-664-6510.
To inquire about a towed motor vehicle, contact the Towing and Recovery Office at 757-823-1093 and select Option "0".
We accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards, with the exception of the Discover Card, as payment.
Abandoned vehicles are auctioned Thursdays according to the schedule (PDF). Our auction dates have recently changed, so check to ensure you have the latest dates. Auctions are held at 1188 A Lance Road and begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration starts at 9:15 am.

Look for auction vehicle listings online. The listing for the vehicles and/or bicycles available in the upcoming auction will be posted by the Monday before the auction.

Electronic Drop-off (E-Waste)
Unwanted household electronics are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. View a list of acceptable items (PDF).
Document Shredding Services
Staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive residents’ paper documents for shredding, at no cost.
The Division of Towing and Recovery has partnered with the Office of the City Treasurer and the Division of Parking to make it more convenient for residents to recover their towed vehicles.
- Office of the City Treasurer: Unpaid personal property taxes can be paid at the Division of Towing and recovery. Only cash or certified checks are accepted forms of payment for tax payments.
- Division of Parking: Unpaid parking tickets can be paid at the Division of Towing and Recovery using cash and most major credit cards, with the exception of the Discover Card.
